Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the HandyHive platform. Please read them carefully before creating an account or using our services.

Welcome to HandyHive. By accessing or using our website, mobile application, or any related services (collectively, the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Platform.

HandyHive operates as a marketplace connecting customers ("Customers") with independent service professionals ("Handworkers"). We do not employ Handworkers and are not a party to any service agreement formed between Customers and Handworkers through the Platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, clicking "I Agree", or otherwise accessing the Platform, you confirm that:

  • •You have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
  • •You have read and accept our Privacy Policy.
  • •You are at least 18 years of age.
  • •You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.
  • •You are not prohibited by law from using the Platform.

These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, Customers, and Handworkers. Use of the Platform constitutes acceptance even without explicit acknowledgement.

2. Eligibility

To use HandyHive you must:

  • •Be at least 18 years old.
  • •Be a natural person or a legal entity with authority to enter into these Terms.
  • •Provide accurate and complete registration information.
  • •Not have had a previous account terminated for violations of these Terms.

HandyHive reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at our sole discretion and without liability.

3. Accounts & Registration

You may browse the Platform without an account, but a registered account is required to submit booking requests or list services as a Handworker.

Account Responsibilities

  • •Keep your login credentials confidential and do not share them with anyone.
  • •Notify us immediately at info@handyhive.eu if you suspect unauthorized use.
  • •Provide truthful, accurate, and up-to-date information in your profile.
  • •You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • •One account per individual or business entity — duplicate accounts are prohibited.

You may register using email and password or via a supported OAuth provider (Google, Facebook). Social sign-in is subject to the respective provider's terms.

4. Platform Use

You agree to use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

Circumvent, disable, or interfere with platform security features.
Scrape, crawl, or harvest data without express written permission.
Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the Platform.
Attempt to access accounts or data belonging to other users.
Offer or accept payments outside the Platform to avoid fees.
Reproduce, resell, or redistribute Platform content without permission.

Violation of these restrictions may result in immediate account suspension and legal action where appropriate.

5. Bookings & Cancellations

HandyHive facilitates booking requests between Customers and Handworkers. A booking request does not constitute a confirmed appointment until explicitly accepted by the Handworker.

Booking Process

    Customer submits a request with job description, up to 3 preferred time slots, and optional photos. A non-refundable €1 booking fee is charged at this stage.

    Handworker reviews the request and either confirms one slot, proposes an alternative, or declines.
  3. 3
    Customer is notified of the outcome. A confirmed booking is binding on both parties.
  4. 4
    After job completion, both parties may leave a verified review.

Cancellation Policy

CustomerCancelling a confirmed booking incurs a €20 cancellation fee.
HandworkerDeclining an unconfirmed request incurs a €2 fee. Cancelling a confirmed booking incurs a €20 fee.
Booking FeeThe €1 booking fee is non-refundable regardless of outcome.

These fees exist to protect both parties from no-shows and last-minute cancellations. HandyHive may waive fees in exceptional circumstances (e.g., verified emergencies) at our sole discretion.

6. Payments & Fees

All payments on the Platform are processed securely via Stripe. By submitting a payment, you authorize HandyHive to charge the designated payment method for the amounts described.

Handworker subscription plans renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from your account dashboard. No refunds are issued for unused portions of a billing period.

HandyHive reserves the right to update pricing with at least 30 days' notice to affected subscribers.

7. Handworker Obligations

Handworkers are independent contractors, not employees or agents of HandyHive. By registering as a Handworker, you represent and warrant that you:

  • •Hold all required licences, certifications, and permits to perform the services you offer.
  • •Carry adequate public liability insurance for your trade and service area.
  • •Will complete accepted bookings with professional skill and care.
  • •Will keep your profile information, rates, and availability calendar accurate and up to date.
  • •Will not solicit or accept direct payments from Customers that bypass the Platform.
  • •Will not engage in discriminatory, harassing, or abusive conduct toward any user.

HandyHive reserves the right to verify credentials and suspend accounts that fail verification or accumulate substantiated complaints.

8. Reviews & Content

Users may submit reviews, ratings, photos, and other content ("User Content") to the Platform. By submitting User Content you grant HandyHive a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with operating the Platform.

You represent that all User Content you submit:

  • •Is truthful, accurate, and based on your genuine first-hand experience.
  • •Does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • •Does not contain personal data of other individuals without their consent.
  • •Is not defamatory, obscene, threatening, or otherwise unlawful.

HandyHive reserves the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, is harmful to the Platform or its users. Reviews are tied to verified completed bookings to maintain integrity.

9. Privacy & Data

Our collection and use of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Key points:

Address Privacy

Your exact address is never publicly displayed. It is only shared with a Handworker after a booking is confirmed.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely in AWS infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit.

Data Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us.

10. Limitation of Liability

Important Legal Notice

HandyHive is a marketplace platform. We do not perform, supervise, or guarantee any services provided by Handworkers. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • •The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • •We are not liable for the quality, safety, legality, or outcome of any service performed by a Handworker.
  • •We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
  • •Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or use of the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid to HandyHive in the 3 months preceding the claim or (b) €100.
  • •Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate the account relationship at any time:

  • •You may close your account at any time from your account settings. Subscriptions must be cancelled separately to stop recurring charges.
  • •HandyHive may suspend or permanently terminate your account for violations of these Terms, fraud, abuse, or any activity that harms the Platform or its users.
  • •Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including liability, payment obligations, and dispute resolution) will continue to apply.
  • •We will attempt to notify you before terminating your account unless doing so would compromise an ongoing investigation or is not legally required.

12. Changes to These Terms

HandyHive may update these Terms at any time. When we make material changes we will:

  • •Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
  • •Send an email notification to all registered users at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
  • •Display a prominent notice on the Platform.

Continued use of the Platform after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes. If you disagree with a change, you must stop using the Platform and may close your account before the changes take effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can browse handworker profiles, view rates, and read reviews without an account. However, submitting a booking request requires a registered account to ensure security and accountability for all parties.

The €1 booking fee is non-refundable. It covers platform processing costs and confirms your commitment to the request. Separate cancellation penalties (€20) apply on top of this fee if a confirmed booking is cancelled.

HandyHive is a marketplace platform and does not directly perform any services. We facilitate the connection between customers and independent handworkers. We cannot guarantee workmanship quality, though we do enforce a review system and reserve the right to remove handworkers who consistently receive poor ratings.

Contact our support team at info@handyhive.eu within 14 days of the transaction. We will investigate and, where appropriate, facilitate a resolution. All disputes are handled in accordance with our refund policy and applicable consumer protection laws.

Yes. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms of Service, engage in fraudulent activity, attempt to circumvent the platform, or consistently receive serious complaints. You will be notified unless doing so would compromise an ongoing investigation.
